ABOUT BACKROADS 766
Backroads is the studio of Lynda Williamson, a Calgary-based textile artist.
For many years Lynda has travelled the backroads of Alberta and marvelled at the spectacular vistas. She finds inspiration from the natural beauty all around her: prairie storms, canola in bloom, and fields of wild flowers.
Her pieces are created using a process of corn dextrin resist combined with an application of thickened dyes which gives a greater depth to the textile creations. To further engage the viewer, layers of silk, cotton or linen, are overlayed and separated when hung.
ABOUT LYNDA
Lynda Williamson has been creating textile art for over 15 years. She has trained with numerous artists internationally. When describing her creative process she turns most readily to the words of Julia Cameron:
"The creative process is one of surrender, not control"
